Hey Legends! Arenas mode has finally returned to Apex Legends in Season 25, bringing back everyone’s favorite action-packed 3v3 experience. Whether you’re a veteran looking for a refresher or a new player ready to jump into Arenas for the first time, we’ve got you covered. Here’s everything you need to know about Arenas mode and the significant changes coming this season.
How Arenas Mode Works in Season 25
Arenas is fundamentally different from the regular Battle Royale mode. Rather than dropping from a ship, Arenas matches are round-based 3v3 battles. Each round starts in a spawn room with a buying phase lasting 30 seconds. Afterward, the doors open, and you fight head-to-head with another squad.
Buying Phase and Crafting Materials
During the buying phase, you’ll purchase weapons, abilities, and grenades using crafting materials, which serve as Arenas currency. You’ll start round one with 600 crafting materials. Here’s how you earn more:
- Kills: Each kill awards you 75 crafting materials.
- Material Canisters: Collecting these canisters grants your team an additional 200 crafting materials.
- Round Bonus: You’ll receive additional crafting materials at the start of every round.
Unused materials carry over to subsequent rounds, capping at a maximum of 3,500 materials.
Armor and Gear Changes
Armor in Arenas does not evolve based on damage like in Battle Royale. Instead, armor upgrades automatically at specific rounds:
- Rounds 1–2: Blue Armor
- Rounds 3–4: Purple Armor
- Round 5 (Sudden Death): Red Armor
Helmets were removed in a previous update and remain absent from Arenas.
Abilities, Heals, and Grenades
Your passive ability is always free. However, tactical abilities must be purchased, with costs varying significantly based on your legend. Unused tactical charges will carry over to the next round.
Ultimates can’t be bought in round one, and once used, there’s a one-round cooldown before they can be purchased again.
Heals are provided free each round, but grenades cost 100 crafting materials each, and you can carry up to three grenades unless you have a legend-specific perk.
Weapon Purchasing and Restrictions
One of the major changes this season is that you can only buy each weapon once per match. After purchasing a weapon, you won’t be able to buy that same weapon again in subsequent rounds. Choose wisely!
Weapons come without attachments initially, but you can spend additional crafting to upgrade through gray, blue, and purple attachments. Gold attachments aren’t available through purchases but can be found in care packages.
Care Packages and Ammo
Care packages drop each round, containing powerful gold or even mythic weapons, better armor, or boost kits. Ammo is free and unlimited at purchase, but you can pick up more from defeated enemies or teammates.
Winning Rounds and Reviving
Rounds are won by eliminating the entire opposing squad. There are no respawns in Arenas, though revives are available. Be cautious when thirsting opponents: eliminated Players drop ammo, heals, and weapons, but no armor swaps.
New vs. Classic Arenas Modes
Two slightly different versions of Arenas will rotate early in the season:
- Classic Arenas (Until May 19th): Features supply bins and requires buying heals.
- New Arenas (From May 20th onward): Removes supply bins, provides heals for free, and tweaks some legend mechanics.
The core gameplay remains unchanged, ensuring both veterans and new players can enjoy a familiar yet refined experience.
Sudden Death and the 1v1 Mode
To win the entire match, your team needs to secure three rounds. Matches reaching round five enter sudden death, with teams receiving red Evo Shields to escalate the intensity.
Additionally, look out for a special 1v1 Arenas variant arriving midseason—perfect for settling scores directly with your rivals.
