The RE-45 has been one of the most dominant sidearms in Apex Legends this season, but Respawn has hit it with a significant nerf. These changes target its magazine size, recoil, and even its projectile size, dialing back its power in both casual and Ranked play.
Magazine size reductions
The RE-45’s base magazine has been reduced from 18 to 15 rounds. Extended magazines have also been adjusted, leaving Players with fewer bullets per mag at every tier:
- White: 18 rounds
- Blue: 21 rounds
- Purple: 24 rounds
This is a notable drop fromthe previous numbers and will make reloading more frequent during fights.
Increased recoil
Respawn has also increased the RE-45’s recoil, making it more difficult to Control during sustained fire.
- Vertical recoil: +12%
- Horizontal recoil: +10%
These changes will require better aim control, especially when spamming the weapon in close-range engagements.
Projectile size removed
Perhaps the biggest adjustment is the complete removal of the RE-45’s bullet projectile size increase. Previously, the weapon benefitted from slightly larger hit registration, making it more forgiving. That advantage is now gone, making the gun feel less consistent in clutch moments.
With these nerfs, the RE-45 is no longer the clear-cut best secondary option in Apex Legends, though it remains dangerous in the right hands. Players may need to rethink their sidearm of choice heading deeper into Season 26.
